A few days before Alex left for Norway she invited me to spend a day with her at the Shangri La in Sydney for afternoon high tea and to explore the hotel with her. Being a Sydney sider, I’ve never stayed in the harbour hotel before but had always been a fan of high tea so of course I said yes!
Upon arriving at the lobby lounge we were both taken to our table and chose a tea from their extensive menu (Alex had lychee with rose and almond and I had a classic green tea). The staff quickly brought out our three tier lunch which included sweet and savoury creations as well as scones with homemade jam and cream.
Oh how yummy everything was! Their menu changes seasonally and this time we had lovely Asian inspired sandwiches as well as a selection of fruity and chocolate-y desserts. By the top tier we were both feeling so full and couldn’t stomach more – fortunately the staff at the Shangri La were more than accommodating and packed the cakes into a box for us to take up.
The Harbour room on level 33 was spacious, classy and had beautiful views of the harbour. We were right on top of the bridge so we didn’t get to see that but we still had a clear shot of the surrounding city.
There were so many favourite things of mine in this room. From the marbled bathroom to the neutral toned palette and luxury amenities, everything was on point! And the bed was just so comfortable I forgot about everything and almost fell asleep. Thankfully we had so much to play around with and Alex and I spent the rest of the afternoon lounging around and taking as many photos as we can.
If you ever want to wake up to a view like no other, Shangri La is the place to be if you ever find yourself in Sydney. Or just book yourself afternoon tea at the lounge for a quick few hour getaway. Enjoy!
