If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in Bali, then Legian Kriyamaha Villa is the perfect stop for you! During our time in Legian over our trip, we decided to take a couples break and visit the ever so sweet Kriyamaha Villa. The city of Legian is a subdistrict of Kuta, meaning that we were not in the city central, but close enough to take a short 10 minute taxi ride to all the famous cafe’s and shops.
Legian Kriyamaha is a very intimate space, offering only 10 one bedroom villas, all with private pools and an outdoor stone bathtub. Like mentioned before, romance is at the very core of this villa! Upon check in, you can order multiple extras on top of your stay like rose petals in the pool or even a romantic dinner in your villa. The best thing is, if you want to surprise your partner or have a special occasion coming up, you can contact the villa beforehand and they can organise a special something like a personal balloon and rose greeting upon arrival.
THE VILLA
When arriving at the villa, we were greeted by the kind staff who offered us a refreshing welcome coconut drink and a cold towel which I thought was a thoughtful gesture. It didn’t take long for our villa to get ready which we were led to by the lovely receptionist, Eka.
Our villa was everything that I had dreamt of and more! All the villa space was situated on one floor starting with a lounging area, the bedroom, the bathroom and then the pool outside. There was an amazing water feature towards the right of the bedroom which had a fountain – this was particularly relaxing during the daytime and don’t worry, it can be turned off during the night time! I also particularly liked that there was an outdoor concrete bath tub. Most villas have outdoor showers so it’s surprising to see a villa that offers an outdoor bathtub (it can be very relaxing taking a bath during sunset!) The staff were kind enough to place a bed decoration for us as a lovely surprise. They put rose petals in the shape of a love heart as well as made two swan towel decorations. We thought it was really cute!
My favourite thing about the villa was the coziness and openness of the place. Everything was situated closely with each other, so much so that you can walk out of the bedroom into the pool, and out of the pool into the indoor shower. The windows were also ceiling to glass meaning a lot of natural light passes through. For most of our stay we didn’t even need to use the lights because we had so much coming from outside. A small minor setback however for people that don’t particularly like ‘openness’ is that the shower is completely visible from the outside as it has nothing covering it. It wasn’t a problem for Shad and I but could be if you are sharing with a friend! Nevertheless, it was still such a beautiful villa 🙂
THE EXTRA GOODIES
The second day we were staying at Kriyamaha, we organised a floating breakfast because I’d never tried it before and was interested to test the novelty of the idea! All we did was chose an item on the menu and told reception what time we wanted the food to be delivered. The timing is very punctual, and the staff will help set up the floating breakfast so you don’t have to worry about a thing! The breakfast was delicious and there are plenty of tissues available so you can swim and enjoy the food whilst not dirtying the pool. Whats best is that the tray is so light that you can move it around easily – I recommend the floating breakfast for everyone to try at least once! You can get some good instagram opportunities, and plus it’s fun to actually eat breakfast in the pool haha.
During our stay we also decided to have an outdoor citrus bath. When it came to organise the citrus bath, we didn’t know just how much work goes into it! It takes about 45 mins alone just to set up, so I recommend letting them know to organise it in advanced. I estimate that there were about 40 cucumbers and 20 oranges at least that went into the citrus bath. It’s not just great for photos, but a citrus bath can also be very detoxifying to your body after a long day. I certainly felt refreshed and relaxed after 15 mins of soaking but just be careful because after too long, your skin might burn a little due to the citrus!
FINAL THOUGHTS
I thought the stay at Leigan Kriyamaha Villas was unparalleled and definitely one that prides themselves on excellent guest service. I remember one instance where I didn’t have a spare hair tie, and went to ask the receptionist if she had any spares. After a bit of a language barrier, she understood what we meant, but didn’t have any spares. Instead of just saying sorry, she took off her own hair tie she was using and handed it to me! I was shocked to say the least but very appreciative. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay back at Legian Kriyamaha the next time I come back to Bali.
