Ayara Kamala Resorts, Phuket

And so the Thailand series begins! We were wanting to escape Sydney’s cold for a very long time now and decided to plan a little getaway to Thailand as we’ve never been there before. The first on our list to tick off was the sunny city of Phuket, most popular for its coastal beaches and relaxed lifestyle. Although some choose to stay in their resort for the entire duration of their holiday, Shad and I took the time to explore nearby Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay as day trips. Whilst we were out exploring, Ayara Kamala resort was our second home and a haven we knew we could come back to.

During our stay, we were in the Grand Pool Villa, perfect for honeymooners! It is a private villa with your own infinity pool overlooking Kamala beach – it doesn’t sound any better than that right? In the villa you also have a small kitchenette, separate dining/living area, a shaded cabana to relax in, as well as a bedroom with a very generous sized bathroom. When we walked in, our jaws dropped at how beautiful the entire space was! It was truly as if we were in our own private paradise. Because all rooms face Kamala bay, everyone has their own view of the spectacular sunset that falls right on the beach. We were lucky enough to see this on our second night with Ayara, and it was truly breathtaking.

Ayara Kamala resort is about 20 mins from the bustling tourist hot spot of Patong. We chose to stay in the Kamala region because it’s a lot more quiet (we don’t generally go for overpopulated places) and I heard that the beaches/surroundings in Kamala are well kept and nicer because it’s less of a tourist attraction. The resort itself is huge and stretches far along the bay – it’s so big that some people require buggies to help them get across from the main area to their room! You will be able to keep yourself busy too as the resort has a tennis court, gym, and provides a free shuttle to downtown every 1-2 hours. Ayara also has free daily activities for guests to enjoy, running on a weekly schedule – things like cocktail making, simple cooking and massage master classes were activities during our stay.

Despite it being our first time in Phuket, Ayara Kamala made us feel right at home ❤
